How to choose a photographer for your big day?

Are you planning a wedding and it's time to choose a photographer? You have come to the right place.

Choosing a photographer is an important decision. After all, it's your big day and I think each of you wants to have it perfectly captured. Most photographers have their own style of editing, unique expression and way of presenting themselves. Therefore, it is important that the photographer you choose fits with the above mentioned points. At the same time, you should look at how to investing in your memories, that will stay with you forever. You want your wedding to be captured in the best possible way, so that the highlights are there, but also the ones that you might not even see during the wedding and smile about later.

Let's start from the basics. Most couples have a set financial limit that they want to spend on a photographer or the entire wedding. It's a common thing. In my opinion, just the photographer and videographer represent one of the most important parts of the wedding. For this reason it is important not to leave their choice to the last minute. Based on my experience, I would say that the right timewhen to start looking for a photographer is approximately one year before the wedding. If you leave the choice of a photographer to the last minute, your chosen professional may not be available.

Before you start planning your wedding, it's a good idea to have a financial ceiling in place so you know where you can range, which photographer fits your budget, and which doesn't. But what's more important than the price of the photographer, in my opinion, is their editing style. After all, it's your big day and if you're paying a photographer, I assume you want to be happy with the resulting photos as well.

Basic criteria:

  • Finishing style
  • Price
  • Scope of services
  • Availability
  • Access

My advice to you on how to proceed with the selection

Before choosing a photographer, make small survey. Try looking through the portfolios of photographers who caught your eye at first glance, for example by presenting themselves on social networks or on the web. Once you have this list ready, focus on treatment styleoffered by individual photographers. Browse through their galleries and select the ones whose editing style appeals to you. After this selection, go to Price list. Some photographers have wedding packages posted on their websites, others need to be contacted.

Don't be afraid if you need to contact the photographer for a quote. This is not binding. Each package comes with a range of services that are incorporated into that package. The aforementioned range of services is also key. Try before choosing a photographer to determine what you expect from him. It can be about the wedding photography from the preparations to the capping, or the form you want to receive the photos in, (Are electronic versions enough or do you want a printed version?) or how many photos you expect and so on. If you don't find the answers to your questions in the published price list, ask the photographer directly. It is not a mistake if you contact several photographers at the same time. It may happen that some of the professionals you have chosen will already have a date booked. To avoid a long conversation that will result in your date being booked, specify the date right at the beginning. Last but not least (last but not least), the photographer needs to fit you from the point of view of his approach. This means that you should be identified with him as the person who will be your right hand throughout the day, and who will contribute to the specialness of your big day.

I wish you good luck in this difficult task. I hope this article will help you make the right choice!
